What You Should Know
Starter 2 is one of the many ephedra supplements still lingering on the diet market. Ephedra is no longer legal for use in diet supplements in the US, but you can purchase the ingredient as a cold medication in limited quantities. The ephedra extract listed in Starter 2 appears to be the real thing, though the term ephedra leaves could be the leaves of various plants in the same family as the now illegal diet stimulant. Just because a company claims they’ve added ephedra does not mean they’ve added the ephedra you’ve expected them to add.
List of Ingredients
Ingredients:
- Ephedra Extract
- White Willow Bark
- Citrus Aurantium
- Caffeine Anhydrous
- Gymnema Sylvestre
- Guggulsterone
- L-Carnitine
Product Features
The ephedra extract listed in Starter 2 could very well be the ephedra placed on the banned list by the FDA. The dieter will really never know unless the company somehow offers up the information or the dieter has the formula tested. If the supplement contains ephedra, the manufacturer is breaking federal law. If the supplement does not contain ephedra, the company is lying to the consumer. That makes for a lose lose situation.
White willow bark and caffeine are commonly added to supplements with ephedra. When taken together, these three ingredients work synergistically to increase metabolism, calorie burn and support weight loss. Known as an ECA (ephedra-caffeine-aspirin) stack, it is the only combination of ingredients clinically proven to promote weight loss in nearly every dieter who took it.
Citrus aurantium is a source of synephrine, another stimulant. After ephedra was pulled from the diet market synephrine filled the space. Companies literally kept the same ingredient list but replaced ephedra with synephrine. Synephrine increases heart rate and blood pressure, but it does not work like ephedra.
Advantages
- All ingredients are listed online.
- Caffeine will increase heart rate and spark metabolism.
Disadvantages
- Ephedra is no longer legal for use in diet pills.
- The company is either selling an illegal pill or marketing a diet pill based on lies.
- There could be too much caffeine for some dieters.
Conclusion
Though ephedra is proven to boost metabolism and weight loss, we cannot promote a supplement that is in clear violation of federal law. Ephedra was pulled from the diet market because it caused death and that’s enough for us. We suggest dieters steer clear of Starter 2 and any other diet pills that claim to contain ephedra.
